Courses

The route for the Bandon Half Marathon follows a very scenic rural route around the western side of Bandon and crosses over some lovely quite roads with magnificent views of open countryside.

The race starts near to the Bandon Rugby Club grounds (race head quarters) which is located on the western side of the town on the Bandon to Clonakilty road. The race heads west out the Clonakilty road for just less than 2 miles before turning right to start a 7 mile loop over a selection of small country roads. This loop crosses over the old West Cork railway line and runs adjacent to the Bandon River providing the opportunity for runners to really appreciate the lovely West Cork landscape.

From there on the course passes by Bandon Golf Club and the landmark Castle Bernard estate. Castle road then leads the runners down a fast finish into the centre of Bandon where there will be a very warm welcome for all finishers.

The Half Marathon is open to runners, joggers and wheelchair users, whether you are entering a half marathon for the first time or chasing a new personal best, you are all welcome. The use of chip timing on the day will provide for accurate and prompt results after the race.

To enter the Half Marathon you can register by clicking on the registration page on the website and following the instructions. Prices will vary depending on the date you enter the race. If you enter online there will be a booking fee alternatively you can download a copy of our manual entry form and post it to the address provided. When you enter the Bandon Half Marathon you will receive:

• Race Number
• Goodie bag
• Refreshments during and after the race

Bandon 10k Mini-Marathon

We are also pleased to offer a choice of a 10k race/fun run for those who would prefer to run over a shorter distance. This course will appeal to those who want a fast 10k course providing an opportunity for new personal best times on the day. Fit for Life and fun runners are encouraged to take this 10k challenge and savour the delights of running in the lovely Bandon countryside.

The 10k course will start in the same area as the half marathon course at a slightly later time and will cover the start and last part of the half marathon course to finish again in the centre of Bandon to a very warm welcome.
